Morawa Shire Scholarship

Year 10 students enrolled at Morawa DHS may apply for an academic scholarship, which is tenable at Morawa DHS in Years 11 and 12.

Criteria:

The Scholarship will be awarded based on final, highest aggregate results in the subject areas of Maths, English, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences. The recipient of the scholarship must complete their schooling in Year 11 and 12 at Morawa DHS to receive the full value.

Value:

The total value of $1000.00 will be used as a direct reduction in school fees to the value of $500 in Year 11 and $500 in Year 12.

Selection

The selection committee will be comprised of the Scholarship Committee from Morawa DHS.

 

The Frank Dixon Memorial Music Scholarship

The family of the Late Frank Dixon, a strong supporter of education and a lover of music, is offering this annual music scholarship.

Criteria:

The scholarship is offered to a Year 7 student currently enrolled at Morawa DHS, or students intending to enrol at Morawa DHS in Year 8. It is highly desirable, though not essential, that the applicant has some background in music and is already learning an instrument or singing in a choir.  An audition is required as a part of the selection process.

Value:

The scholarship will cover expenses connected with music education at Morawa DHS to the value of $300 for one year.

Selection:

The selection committee will be comprised of music teaching staff and a Scholarship Committee representative. An audition is required as a part of the selection process.

 

The Carslake Family Scholarship

The Carslake Family Scholarship is made available to encourage students to pursue their secondary education at Morawa DHS; Year 6 students enrolled or intending to enrol at Morawa DHS may apply.

Criteria:

A student, who exhibits a well balanced approach to all Learning Areas, participates in and enjoys sport and extracurricular activities within the school community, Citizenship and co-operation with others. The recipient of the scholarship must complete their schooling in Year 7 and 8 at Morawa DHS.

Value:

The total value of $250.00 will be administered by Morawa DHS by way of a direct reduction of school fees to the value of $125 in Year 7 and $125 in Year 8.

Selection:

The selection committee will be comprised of the Scholarship Committee from Morawa DHS and a representative from the Carslake family.

 

The Laura Moffet Memorial Scholarship

The Laura Moffet Scholarship is offered annually by the Moffet family to encourage students to pursue their senior studies in Humanities or Sciences. Students enrolled at Morawa DHS in Year 9, 10 & 11 may apply for this scholarship, which is tenable at Morawa DHS in Year 10, 11 and 12, with the vision to inspire and enhance opportunities for students to continue studies at a tertiary or university.

Criteria:

This scholarship will be awarded to students who are studying humanities or science subjects in Year 10, 11 and 12. The recipient of the scholarship must complete their schooling in Year 10, 11 and 12 at Morawa DHS. The distribution of these scholarships is flexible.

Value:

The total value of all scholarships per year will be $5500 compromised by the following:

  • One scholarship may be awarded to a Year 10 student up to a value of $1500, providing the student remains as Morawa DHS.
  • One scholarship may be awarded to a Year 11 student to a value of $2000, providing the student remains at Morawa DHS.
  • One Scholarship may be awarded to a Year 12 student up to a value of $2000, providing the student remains at Morawa DHS.
  • This money will be used to cover expenses directly related to secondary education at Morawa DHS. Funds will be used for school-related expenditure for the school.

Unused scholarship funds allocated to a Year 10 or 11 students can be carried forward to the next year. If a scholarship recipient leaves Morawa DHS, any remaining unused scholarship funds will be deposited back into the scholarship term deposit account. This policy also applies to students graduating in Year 12.

Statement:

If there are no suitable applicants in the above year group, the scholarship selection panel will select the next suitable applicant from any of the above years to receive the scholarship. If in the case, there is no student suitable the money will be deposited back into the term deposit for future Laura Moffet Memorial Scholarships.

Selection:

The selection committee will be comprised of the Scholarship Committee from Morawa DHS.

 

The Morawa P & C Endeavour and Achieve Scholarships

The Morawa P & C Primary Scholarships are made available by donations from community members to encourage students to continue their studies locally. Year 5 students enrolled at Morawa DHS may apply for an Endeavour or Achieve scholarship, which is tenable at Morawa DHS in Year 6.

The Morawa P & C Secondary Scholarships are made available by donations from community members to encourage students to continue their studies locally. Year 8 students enrolled at Morawa DHS may apply for an Endeavour or Achieve Scholarship, which is tenable at Morawa DHS in Years 9 and 10.

Criteria

  • The” Endeavour” Scholarship will be awarded to a primary and secondary student who exhibits a well balanced approach to all learning areas and displays good citizenship and the ability to cooperate with others.
  • The “Achieve” Scholarship will be awarded to a primary and secondary student based on final highest aggregate results in the subject areas of Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities Social Sciences.

Value

  • The recipient of the Primary Endeavour scholarship will have a direct reduction of school fees to the value of $125 for a Year 6 student.
  • The recipient of the Secondary Endeavour scholarship will have a direct reduction of school fees to the value of $250 for a Year 9 student spread over two years ($125 per year).
  • The recipient of the Primary Achieve scholarship will have a direct reduction of school fees to the value of $125 for a Year 6 student.
  • The recipient of the Secondary Achieve scholarship will have a direct reduction of school fees to the value of $250 for a Year 9 student spread over two years ($125 per year).

Selection:

The selection committee will be comprised of the Scholarship Committee from Morawa DHS and a representative of the P & C.

 

Motown Community Shed Changemaker Scholarship

The Motown Community Shed is a new annual scholarship offered this year. There are 3 scholarships donated by the Motown Community Shed. The value of these scholarships will be put towards school fees, uniform and other school supplies as needed. Students in Years K-4 are eligible to be selected for the Junior Changemaker Scholarship, which is to the value of $200. 2 students in Years 5 or 6 are eligible to be selected for the Senior Changemaker Scholarships, which are to the value of $500 each.
